c. 36 CE: Doc and Marty arrive in ancient Rome to return a few scrolls Doc had borrowed. Jules and Verne come along as stowaways. Marty gets separated and ends up angering Bifficus Antannenae. Bifficus challenges Marty to a chariot race. Doc is arrested for speaking of rebellion. Jules and Verne rescue him from the catacombs with the help of Juda Ben-Hur. They help Marty lose the race safely so that Bifficus can still help Caligula come into power. After proving successful, they return to 1991.

1367: The Brown family arrive in England after getting into an argument about overdependence on technology, but things go south fast. Clara and Doc are abducted by Lord Biffingham of Tannenshire. While Jules and Verne go to save them, they run into Harold McFly. They sneak into the castle and save Doc from being killed by Biffingham but are caught once more. Clara and Jennivere escape and form their own plan to save the boys. Harold and Jennivere leave for Ireland, and the Brown family return to 1991.

1532: Doc and Marty arrive in the Amazon rainforest to find the key ingredient to a remedy for athlete’s foot. They run into a group of Spanish conquistadors led by Biffando de la Tannez. Before returning to 1991, they ensure that the city remains hidden from outside forces as per their request.

September 23, 1692: The Brown family is transported to Salem, Massachusetts after a run-in with some ancient Egyptians. Marty comes to bring them home but is accused of witchcraft by Mercy Tannen and her father. He ultimately clears his name and returns to 1991 with the Brown family.

1697: Marty and Verne arrive in the Caribbean because Verne wanted to get an earring from some pirates. Marty is mistaken for the infamous Mac the Black and is swept up by a group of pirates that want him to be their captain. Verne coincidentally gets a job as a cabin boy on the same ship. Eventually, they cross paths with the real Mac the Black. Right as Marty and Verne are about to die, they’re rescued by a Spanish ship. Verne never got his earring, but he did get a tattoo. Upon returning to 1992, Verne immediately got said tattoo removed.

September 2, 1752: Verne arrives from 1991 after Jules teases him about possibly being adopted. Doc continues searching for Jules and Verne while Marty poses as a ghost to convince Ebiffneezer to free his prisoners. Doc gets away with Jules, Verne, and Reggie (the pickpocket). Reggie is adopted by the toymakers and Ebiffneezer has a very short-lived change of heart. The Brown Family and Marty all return to 1991.

March 3, 1850: Marty arrives with Jules and Verne in Wyoming on the Oregon trail so that Verne can meet his grandparents. They get caught up in a stampede, but are saved by Martha O’Brien, later Martha Clayton. Martha falls in love with Marty on the spot, which causes Clara to start fading out. Jules and Verne try to get Martha and Daniel Clayton to fall in love, but Martha is abducted by Wild Bill Tannen, Buford’s father. Verne follows after Wild Bill and Martha. Doc arrives from 1991 after witnessing the timeline starting to change. Doc and Daniel save Martha and Verne from Wild Bill, which shifts Martha’s love to Daniel instead of Marty, and they get married the next morning. 1875: Marty, Jules, and Verne arrive at the Parker Ranch after learning that Jennifer’s ancestors, Wendell and Genevieve Parker, sold it to Thaddeus Tannen, Biff’s great-granduncle. When Marty arrives, Hepzibah Tannen falls in love with him at first sight, so Thaddeus goes to take the Parker Ranch and gift it to them as a honeymoon suite, making the sale a predestination paradox. Marty goes to stop the sale, but there’s hardly anything he can do, so he gives Wendell a pen with disappearing ink. They free Genevieve from being tied to the tracks, and then the boys go back to 1992.

Clayton, but finds out that she really meant her uncle Josephat. Verne protests all of the name suggestions which leads to an argument between Doc and Clara. Doc storms out, but when Clara goes into labor, Verne has to find him and a doctor to help. After getting back to the cabin, Doc and Clara decide to name their new son after the boy that helped them, making Verne’s name a predestination paradox. With Verne’s newfound appreciation for his name, he and Marty return to 1992.

Through a mindless slip of the tongue, Marty causes Peewee to be distracted and is injured for the rest of the game. Marty takes his place using the baseball enhancing invention that Doc created and uses it to win the game for the Boston Beaneaters. This causes Diamond Jim Tannen to get angry with Peewee, so he strikes a deal with him to throw the match the next day. After a conversation with Marty, Peewee decides to literally get out of town.

September 2, 1897: Marty decides to fill in for Peewee again, but after doing so well so early in the game, he gets beat up by Diamond Jim which causes the invention to be damaged. He’s okay, but his trip was caught on film which leads him to becoming a media sensation thanks to his uncle Oliver Brown signing a contract for Emmett to work in entertainment as a daredevil. His last stunt is set up by D.W. Tannen and involves him going over Yosemite falls in a barrel. Verne takes Emmett’s place with a mini flux capacitor. Oliver refuses to continue Emmett’s contract and instead opts for going home to take Emmett fishing for real. With Verne reappearing safe and sound, the boys go home to 1991.

June 13, 1931: Marty arrives from 1986 to break Doc out of jail with help from Doc’s younger self who will be referred to as Emmett for simplicity’s sake. Arthur McFly receives a subpoena and testifies against his boss, Irving “Kid” Tannen. August 25, 1931: Doc and Marty come back from 1986 to ensure Kid is arrested for tax evasion. Emmett is portrayed as the hero of the situation and earns Edna’s respect, so they start seeing each other. This causes Emmett to allow Edna to inspire him instead of Frankenstein. Unbeknownst to this new development, Doc and Marty travel back to 1986.

October 12-13, 1931: Citizen Brown and Marty arrive from 1986 to break Edna and Emmett up with help from Trixie Trotter. They’re successful, but Emmett becomes depressed from having his heart broken. Emmett and Erhardt get in an argument about Emmett’s scientific endeavors, but they work things out, and Erhardt supports Emmett’s decisions. Despite the expo being a disaster for Emmett, he continues to pursue his passion for science. Citizen Brown fades away as Emmett’s future is redirected from that timeline. Marty gives Emmett a newspaper clipping about his future but urges him to not open it until he gets the key to the city. Emmett leaves and shortly after, Doc arrives back in 1931 from an unspecified date. Meanwhile, Edna had been revealed as the speakeasy arsonist and accidentally travels back to 1876 while trying to escape arrest. William shows up and gives Doc and Marty information about what happened to Hill Valley leading them to where Edna is living as Mary “Scary Mary” Pickford alone. After gaining more information from Edna, Doc and Marty travel back to 1876 to stop her from burning down Hill Valley. Doc, Marty, and Edna all arrive back from 1876. Edna is arrested for arson and meets Kid in jail, later becoming Biff’s step-mom. Doc and Marty find out that Trixie is actually Sylvia, Marty’s grandmother. Seeing their work here is done, Doc and Marty finally go back to 1986.

Verne and Chris decide to help the circus make enough money to stay in business for a while longer. That night’s show is a huge success thanks to their trapeze act, but during the grand finale, Verne finds out Chris is actually Christine. September 28, 1944: In the morning, Marty and Verne are woken up by two girls named Rosie and Dorothy, who is later revealed to be Verne’s dance teacher. The group is soon joined by Sargent Frank Tannen (who is possibly a Nazi spy due to his frequent slips into German). Marty assaults Tannen and is chased into a recruitment center where he accidentally enlists. Verne sneaks into camp as a medic and gets Marty out of there. They catch up with Rosie and Dorothy at the Jitterbug contest. Marty poses as a singer while Verne and Dorothy hit the dance floor. They manage to evade Tannen and even win the dance competition without the dancing shoes. Marty and Verne get back to 1992 where Verne has a new appreciation for dancing.

February 15, 1952: Marty and the boys arrive from 1992 to ensure Doc shows up for a wrestling match because Verne thinks it’d be cool to have a wrestler for a father. This results in Doc getting a head injury which causes Doc to believe he is a superhero. He sustains another head injury which makes him return to normal. Doc enters the ring again but loses the match. Marty and the boys shrug it off and return back to 1992.

November 5, 1955: Doc invents time travel after recovering from a head injury in a clock-hanging incident. Marty arrives from 1985.

Marty and Doc come from 1985 in the Hell Valley timeline to destroy the almanac. The DeLorean is struck by lightning and sends Doc back to 1885, leaving Marty to get help from 1955 Doc once again after receiving Doc’s letter. October 24, 1962: Doc is commissioned by the US Military to invent a time machine to aid the country during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Doc shows them his prototype that can send things into the future just fine, but has trouble overheating when things are sent into the past.

October 25, 1962: After receiving a vision about the future if he were to provide the military with a time machine, Doc decides to use his prototype to go back a few months prior. This causes the mansion to light up in flames. Doc collects the insurance money to further fund his scientific endeavors. Sometime after this event, Marcus Irving is commissioned instead.

1967: Marty arrives with Jules and Verne in Hill Valley to find out why Biff accused Doc of being an alien in 1992. They find out that Biff mistook Doc in his flying observatory to be an extra-terrestrial in a spaceship. Somehow neither Biff or Doc recognize Marty though. After learning the truth, Marty and the boys dress up as aliens and visit Biff in the DeLorean and threaten him to never tell about his close encounters. Once Biff is convinced, they go back to 1992.

June 12, 1968: Marty is born.

June 23-24, 1972: Irving and Marty arrive from 1986 to see what happened to Joey Baines when he got arrested. After seeing all they need to see, and raising ’72 Doc’s suspicions, they return to find that the DeLorean is missing. Marty follows Joey and finds out he’s working with Biff and his gang. Marty unintentionally gives Biff the idea to rob the place. Biff picks Marty and Joey to do the actual robbing, but they don’t really bring what Biff is looking for. Joey takes the fall for Marty and is arrested for breaking and entering, robbing, and possibly possession. Marty finds out that the back of the painting that was stolen from Sarah is a map. Doc arrives from 1986 by using the remote retrieval system to take Marty and Irving home.

October 8, 1979: Doug Needles has his first day of school in Hill Valley. Marty is tasked with showing him around the school. Needles throws up on Marty and acts like a huge jerk even though Marty is trying to be nice to him. Marty even shows Needles the guitar that he’s been saving his money for on the way home from school.

October 9, 1979: Needles basically stole Marty’s guitar because his parents will buy him anything he wants since they feel guilty about getting divorced. He also invites himself into Marty’s band and suggests a bunch of terrible names for the band. Marty tries to teach Needles how to play, but Needles doesn’t wanna hear it. Instead, he takes everyone to go egg Doc’s house. Marty tells him that it’s a bad idea and that they should just leave Doc alone. When an egg triggers the security system, everyone leaves Needles at the scene.

October 10, 1979: Needles kicks himself out of the band and begins his rivalry with Marty.

October 2, 1982: Marty tries to steal an interocitor tube from Doc’s place to give to Needles but gets caught in his indoor security system after getting past the outdoor one. Doc offers Marty a job to be his assistant/errand runner and Marty accepts.

September 1984: Doc acquires the DeLorean sometime this month.

October 26, 1985: Marty meets Doc in the Twin Pines Mall parking lot and witnesses Einstein travel one minute into the future with the DeLorean time machine. Doc reveals that the time circuits and flux capacitor are powered by a nuclear reaction and also that he stole plutonium from a group of terrorists. Right before Doc is about to embark on the future, the terrorists find Doc and gun him down. Not wanting to also die, Marty escapes in the DeLorean and accidentally travels back to 1955. Marty also arrives back from 1955 on this date to a slightly altered timeline. In this Lone Pine Mall timeline, Doc survives with a bulletproof vest because of the letter Marty wrote, which he tore apart, but later taped back together. Doc drops Marty off at home and sets off to 2015.

October 27, 1985: Doc comes back from 2015 to originally bring Marty back with him, but ends up taking his girlfriend, Jennifer Parker, along as well. Their mission: prevent Marty McFly Jr. from being arrested for a bank robbery and Marlene McFly’s subsequent arrest for attempting to break her brother out of jail. All three travel to 2015 with Biff as a witness. Doc, Marty, and Jennifer come back to the Hell Valley timeline. Marty learns where and when Biff acquired the almanac, and he and Doc travel back to 1955 to destroy it. Marty arrives alone from 1885 and the destruction of the original DeLorean follows shortly after. Marty backs out of the drag race with Needles, further altering his future path. Doc, Clara, Jules, Verne, and Einstein arrive from an unspecified date to visit Marty and Jennifer followed by their departure to an unknown date.

January 1986: Irving is fired from the project.

March 13-14, 1986: Marty and Jennifer receive Clara’s letter about Doc being in danger. They go to Doc’s secret second lab where his initial prototype is, and Jennifer turns it on. They leave a note for Doc to find sometime in the future. Doc comes back wearing an old diving suit and with temporary memory loss. After helping Doc regain his memories, Marty goes with him to 2035. Doc comes back using the prototype with parts for the unfinished DeLorean that had been sitting in the lab. He and Jennifer use the DeLorean to pick up Marty in 2035. All 3 come back from 2035. Doc leaves to gather parts for the time train alone.

April 14-15, 1986: Marty has an existential crisis, causing him to seek help from Doc. When he goes to leave a note in the second lab, he finds that there’s already a note waiting for him. Marty meets Irving for the first time in the school parking lot. Irving explains his story and shows Marty his own time machine car with a bulky nuclear reactor on the back. Irving convinces Marty that it’s only a matter of time before Marty merges back to his original Twin Pines Mall timeline. This causes Marty to have a nightmare and leads to him writing to Doc for help, but really this whole thing was all so that Irving could steal the flux capacitor for himself. While Doc is trying to calm Marty down, a small squad of Marty robots arrive to neutralize Doc and Marty. Irving comes back and takes Doc and Marty back to 19654 BCE with intentions of leaving them there. Later on, Doc, Marty, and Irving all arrive from 1997 in a reverse race to stop Irving from getting away with the Flux Capacitor. Marty convinces ’86 Irving to be a better person which causes ’97 Irving to fade away along with the robots and his own time machine. Seeing as the DeLorean was damaged during the whole fiasco, Doc stays in 1986 to repair it.

May 9, 1986: Joey is released from Prison and stays with the McFlys.

May 10, 1986: Joey storms out after a heated argument with the rest of his family. Marty has had enough, so he decides to spend the night at Doc’s place. When he arrives, only Irving is there, so Marty decides to vent to him instead. Irving basically kidnaps Marty in the middle of the night so they can go back to 1972 to try to stop Joey from getting arrested. Doc uses the remote retrieval system to follow after them. Doc brings them back from 1972. Marty and Irving put the map back together and are found by Joey and Biff.

May 11, 1986: Joey and Biff take Marty and Irving to the forest where the map supposedly leads to the cash Doc buried all those years ago. When they find it, Joey betrays Biff. Biff pushes Marty and Irving off the cliff, but thankfully they’re saved by Doc who once again followed them. Doc reveals to them that he dug up the money several decades ago when he found out just how rich his step-dad, Carlton Ellsworth, was and then used that money to fund his science. Doc finds the last part needed for the time train which was an invention which he buried in 1972.

May 12, 1986: Joey decides to leave for New York. Doc takes the last part for the time train with him back to 1893.

May 14, 1986: Marty goes to stop Doc’s estate sale and receives a message from Doc in the DeLorean that last came from 1931. After some further investigation (and ruining Edna’s newspaper archive) Marty travels back to 1931 to break Doc out of jail.

May 15, 1986: Doc and Marty come back from 1931 but have to go back to fix the timeline and ensure that Kid is arrested for tax evasion. Doc and Marty come back from 1931 again, but Doc fades away this time. Marty finds that Hill Valley is basically a totalitarian state. He convinces Citizen Brown to come back to 1931 with him to fix the timeline once again. Finally, Doc and Marty return to 1986, but are soon met with three men with their own DeLorean time machines each claiming to be Marty’s future self.

1991-1992: Pretty much the entire animated series is centered around these years. For the sake of sanity, the author will not be typing everything that happens in these years during the animated series.

1996: Marlene McFly is born sometime this year.

September 29, 1997: Irving arrives with Doc and Marty after saving them from the Pleistocene era. He reveals to them what he’s been doing with time travel this whole time: selling technology he stole from the future. After revealing his scheme, he orders his robots to kill them. Doc uses the remote retrieval system to get them out and back to 1986 and also baits Irving to follow suit.

1998: Marty McFly Jr. is born sometime this year.

October 21, 2015: Doc, Marty, and Jennifer arrive from 1985 to make sure that Marty Jr. and Marlene don’t end up in jail for getting involved with Griff Tannen and his gang. Biff steals the time machine to give his 1955 self the sports almanac. Doc and Marty go back to 1985 after getting Jennifer out of her future house.

October 27, 2017: Doc arrives from 1893 with Verne hidden in the DeLorean. Verne sees that kids are getting free candy and wants in. Griff’s goons rope Verne into robbing a store by using him as a hostage. Verne ends up stopping them with his sick lasso skills. Verne and Doc reunite and go back to 1893.

September 2035: Doc arrives from 1893 and gets into trouble after trying to get into his account that he previously set up on his first visit to 2015. He then gets the letter from Marty and travels back to meet him and Jennifer in 1986.

September 16, 2035: Doc and Marty arrive from 1986 to figure out how to get Doc back to 1893. They nearly get killed by a now adult Griff. Doc uses the prototype to go back to 2015 to get parts for the DeLorean and then goes back to 1986. Doc and Jennifer arrive from 1986 to save Marty from being arrested. All three go back to 1986.

December 15, 2091: Doc and Clara arrive from 1991 with tickets for a solar cruise that Jules gave to them for an anniversary present. Soon after their departure, Jules and Verne find out via Jules’s 4-Dimensional news press that the day after their parents leave, the ship is lost in space, so they go into the future to rescue them. Doc and Clara find out that the ship is piloted by Marta McFly Jr., Marty’s great-granddaughter. They also meet a rather rude Marty McFly impersonator on board. Jules and Verne find out that Ziff Tannen, Griff’s grandson and Biff’s great-great-grandson, sabotaged the solar sails. While Doc and Clara try to fix the sails themselves, Jules and Verne sneak into mission control and take a separate ship to rescue their parents as well as everyone else on board.
